Duration: Expeditions are long, typically lasting around 50 days. Routes: Common routes to Base Camp include the Rupal Face route via Tarashing or the Diamir Base Camp route via Halala/Kachal, with Fairy Meadows often used. 

Support: A successful expedition includes the services of a government Liaison Officer, base camp staff, porters.

Itinerary

Days 1-2: 
Arrive in Islamabad, Pakistan, get briefed by the expedition leader, meet with the Liaison Officer, and prepare equipment. Attend welcome dinner.

Day 3: 
Drive from Islamabad to Chilas on the scenic Karakoram Highway. 

Day4: 
 Drive by jeep from Chilas to a point like Halala or Tarashing. 

Day 5: 
 Trek from the stopping point (e.g., Halala, Zangot, or Tarashing) towards the base camp. 

Day 6: 
Trek to Nanga Parbat Base Camp (around 4,100-4,200 meters) and set up camp. 

Days 7-40/45:

This is the core phase for acclimatization and climbing. 

Rotation: Climbers will make rotations up the mountain, establishing high camps (Camp I, II, and III) before returning to Base Camp to rest and recover. 

Summit Attempts: The final attempt on the summit of Nanga Parbat (8,125m) is made from the high camps. 

Days 46-47: 
After a successful summit or the end of the climbing period, the base camp is packed up, and the trek begins back down. 

Day 48: 
Trek from the mountains and drive back to Chilas. 

Day 49:
Drive from Chilas back to Islamabad. 

Day 50: 
Attend a farewell dinner and optional visit at the Alpine Club of Pakistan or other partnership post-expedition meetings. Depart for home.
