Shiva Temple & Peace Pagoda Hike

The Shiva Statue hike in Pokhara, located at Pumdikot, is a popular day trip combining a Phewa Lake boat ride, a hike to the World Peace Pagoda, and an uphill trek to the majestic, 108-foot tall Shiva idol for stunning views of the Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and the city, offering a mix of spirituality, culture, and breathtaking scenery. One can hire a vehicle if there is no desire to hike. It is considered locally as a ‘must visit’ during extended time in Pokhara. 

Hike Details:

Starting Point: Lakeside, Pokhara.

Duration: Around 1-7 hours total, depending on route/stops, with hiking segments taking 3-5 hours.

Difficulty: Easy to moderate, with a final uphill climb to Pumdikot. 

Key Stages:

Boating: A short, scenic boat ride across Fewa Lake to the starting point.

World Peace Pagoda (Shanti Stupa): A climb through forests to this iconic Buddhist stupa, offering initial panoramic views.

Pumdikot & Shiva Statue: A continuation uphill to Pumdikot, home to Nepal’s tallest Shiva statue, 108 Shiva Lingas, and a giant Shiva Damaru (drum).
