Ghandruk village sits at a consistent elevation of approximately 2,012m (6,601ft) above sea level, making it a popular, easily accessible stop in the Annapurna region with minimal risk of altitude sickness, though some trek itineraries list slightly lower points like 1970m or 1940m within the village area

Season:
Ghandruk is a year-round destination, but Spring (March-May) for blooming rhododendrons and Autumn (Sept-Nov) for clear skies and peak trekking are the most popular seasons, offering pleasant weather, vibrant greenery, and stunning Annapurna mountain views. Winter (Dec-Feb) provides quiet, snow-dusted scenery, while Monsoon (June-Aug) brings lush landscapes but obscured mountain views. 

Ghandruk Village trek offers stunning Annapurna views, typically starting from Pokhara with options for 3-5 days; a classic route involves driving to Nayapul, trekking via Birethanti to Ghandruk (often spending a night or two exploring its Gurung culture), then returning to Pokhara, with variations including detours to Jhinu Danda’s hot springs or looping through Dhampus/Pothana for varied scenery, all while experiencing lush forests and terrace farms.

Itinerary

Days 1-2:

Arrive in Kathmandu, sightseeing, and preparation. Welcome dinner with guide. 

Day 3: Flight/Bus to Pokhara

Day 4: Pokhara to Ghandruk (Trek Start)

  • Morning: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (or Syauli Bazar).
  • Trek: Hike from Nayapul/Syauli Bazar through Birethanti (permit check) to Ghandruk, a large, traditional Gurung village, enjoying river, farms, and mountain views.
  • Overnight: Ghandruk (approx. 4-5 hours trek). 

Day 5: Ghandruk to Jhinu Danda/Landruk

  • Morning: Explore Ghandruk’s culture and views.
  • Trek: Descend to the Modi Khola river and trek to Jhinu Danda (famous for its hot springs) or continue to Landruk, another beautiful village.
  • Overnight: Jhinu Danda or Landruk (approx. 4-5 hours trek). 

Day 6: Jhinu Danda/Landruk to Pothana/Dhampus

  • Trek: Hike through villages like Tolka, enjoying varied scenery, forests, and panoramic Annapurna/Machhapuchhre views.
  • Overnight: Pothana or Dhampus. 

Day 7: Pothana/Dhampus to Pokhara (Trek End)

  • Trek: Morning views, then trek down to Phedi (or a similar point).
  • Drive: Short drive from Phedi back to Pokhara. 

Days 8/11: Return back to Kathmandu or to next planned region/excursion.
